School

The partner business school of the BS Info in Munich is called Keuda. The school has nine different location all around Finland. We were hosted by the school in Kerava, which is a town located around 30 kilometers from the center of Helsinki.
In Keuda, students can receive vocational upper secondary qualifications in several fields such as Building maintainance technology, Construction, Electrical Engineering and Automation technology, food production, information and communications technology, laboratory technology, Logistics, restaurant and catering service and in the vehicle sector.

Our Host Arttu showed us around in the school complex on the first day so we could already get an insight on the differnences to our german school system. The finnish vocational school contains way more practical parts than the German one does. Keuda offers the students a lot of technology to try out the learned skills (e.g. 3D-printers, virtual-reality glasses, 360°-cameras and much more). They offer free lunch to the students since it's an all-day-school. Students spend most of their time in school at the beginning of their apprenticeship and work more and more in their companys towards the end. It usually takes 3 year to get the qualification, but there is no explicit time limit at vocational school.

In total, it was a great experience to see how vocational school works in Finland. We had lots of fun with our host at school, since he allowed us to try out everything we wanted.
